“Language is a living, kicking, growing, flitting, evolving reality, and the teacher should spontaneously reflect its vibrant and protean qualities.”
Middlebrook's World Language Department works collaboratively to support Wilton's Portrait of a Graduate. Learning a new language helps students become part of the global community by broadening their horizons and by giving them tools to communicate effectively in this rapidly changing world. The World Language curriculum in Wilton is a roadmap that will lead students to gain a greater understanding of cultural differences. World language study in Wilton will also equip the students linguistically and help them develop proficiency in at least one other language.

6th Grade Spanish
Students build foundational communication skills and begin using Spanish to talk about themselves, their interests, school, community, food, and health.- Puente (Bridge): Building foundational language skills
- Preguntas (Questioning): Asking and answering questions
- Mis amigos y yo (My Friends and I): Personal interests, activities, and characteristics
- La escuela y la comunidad (School and Community): Classes, schedules, locations, and community services
- La comida y la salud (Food and Health): Food, healthy choices, and wellness
7th Grade Spanish
Students expand their communication skills while exploring identity, family life, traditions, daily routines, and the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.- Mi identidad y las identidades de los hispanohablantes (My Identity and the Identities of Spanish Speakers)
- La vida de las familias; Celebraciones y tradiciones (Family Life, Celebrations, and Traditions)
- El hogar y la división del trabajo (The Home and Division of Responsibilities)
- A prepararse para el día (Getting Ready for the Day): Daily routines and activities
- Inmersión cultural del mundo hispanohablante (Cultural Immersion in the Spanish-Speaking World)
