Back-to-School Parent Letter - Middlebrook School
August 8, 2025
Dear Middlebrook Families,
We hope your summer has been filled with time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the moments that matter most. As we turn the calendar to August, the excitement for a new school year begins to build—and we’re so glad your child will be joining us at Middlebrook School, “The Brook” as we like to call it, for the 2025–2026 school year!
Whether your child is new to Middlebrook or returning for another spectacular year, we are eager to partner with you to ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging learning experience for every student. Below you’ll find important information to help your family prepare for the first days of school.
Key Items to Review/Complete
There are a few forms and documents that we need you to complete. All can be accessed through PowerSchool. Please click on this link to access your child's PowerSchool account.
In addition, please complete the Health Form (required for all Grade 7 students and students new to Wilton) anytime before August 18:

What to Bring & Expect
-
Supply Lists
-
Students should bring their fully charged district-issued Chromebook on the first day of school
-
Locker assignments, team schedules, and first-week instructions will be provided on the first day of school
-
Please be sure to clearly label all personal belongings — including clothing, lunch bags, water bottles, and more — with your family name.
-
Unlabeled items often end up in our Lost & Found, and without identification, they quickly become lost and forgotten then donated to the Turnover Shop in town. Help us return items to their rightful owners by making names easy to spot!
-
To help maintain a clean and healthy learning environment, only water is permitted as a drink during the school day. Please do not send students to school with other beverages such as coffee, energy drinks, soda, or sports drinks.
Summer Reading Reminder
Reading is one of the best ways to keep minds active over the summer. If your child hasn’t yet completed their Middlebrook Summer Reading, now’s a great time to dive in!
We are also proud participants in the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge, and we encourage all students to submit their reading logs during the first week of school.
Communication via Parent Square
We’re committed to clear and consistent communication throughout the year. You can expect:
-
Weekly school updates from Principal Higgins at 5:00 pm every Friday, starting today!
-
Periodic team-specific messages from your child’s team/teachers
-
Important announcements
-
Make sure you have signed up for Parent Square. If you need assistance in signing up, please review the attached video. If you have an issue you can reach out to Jeanne Mangels at mangelj@wiltonps.org
-
Teachers will still use WPS email to contact parents directly, which is one of the reasons it is so important to keep your PowerSchool Contact Information up to date.
Partnership and Support
At Middlebrook, we believe students thrive when families, educators, and staff work in partnership. Your involvement and support truly make a difference, and we’re grateful to walk this journey with you. If you ever have questions, concerns, or ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to help.
We can’t wait to welcome your child to The Brook, where we are building a learning community rooted in curiosity, respect, growth, and joy.
Enjoy these final days of summer—we look forward to seeing you soon!
Take care,
Jory Higgins
Principal, Middlebrook School
